What Is Imperial Saffron Imperial Persian saffron is the finest and most potent variety, highly sought after for its quality and appearance. It descends from the All-Red family, which includes the Nagin and Sargol types. Known for its thick, uniform stigmas, Imperial saffron is the priciest, requiring about 100 kg of flowers to produce just 1 kg of saffron. Factors like the growing region, corm quality, and cultivation methods all contribute to its superior quality.
Mainly exported from Iran, Imperial saffron is in high demand in Eastern Asia, the Persian Gulf, and the USA. With a coloring strength of 240–290 units, it is the strongest among all saffron types. Despite its popularity in these regions, European consumers often prefer organic varieties like Poushali and La Mancha.
